Hello all!  I am very obviously failing at faithful blogging!  I admit, I don't love writing but am always hoping I'll find the time, the words to blog about something interesting.

I have ventured into a bit of a different line of crochet in the last while.  I started ordering some more luxurious yarns that I quickly fell in love with and am very inspired by.  I get some alpaca, mohair yarn in the mail and instantly I feel an urge to create something beautiful.  I don't look around to be inspired.  I just grab a skein of yarn and start crocheting without a final product in mind.  I'm inspired as I crochet.  Once the bonnet has come together I grab my basket of lace, silk, flowers (some handmade by me on a whim), buttons, etc. and start adding the final touches until the end result is something I can not wait to photograph and share with you all!

I feel this design-as-you-create really shows who I am and reflects my taste and style down to the finest details.  I'm a bit of a romantic so soft yarns, florals, and silks are some of my favourite to work with.

I create because I love to and it's very personal to me.  My business is first and foremost putting our kids through school.  Some mornings I wake up and my wrists and my hands ache, I feel stressed about business, don't have time to be a mother, a home maker, and I question why I do this but it boils down to what we feel is best for our children.  I have always dreamed of staying home with them to be their main caregiver and Prairie Blossom is allowing me to do that.  I feel truly blessed.

I create from the heart and try my best to find originality in my work.  I don't allow myself to look too much at other crochet businesses because I want to create something that expresses my style.  Being "original" is not an easy task in our world where we have everything at our fingertips with the click of a button.

Having said that, I appreciate all my customers tremendously and thank you all for reading through some of my more personal thoughts.

Here are a few images of some of my creations that came together by just sitting down on my couch with beautiful yarn, crochet hooks, lace, flowers, buttons, silk...and a little toddler wanting every bit of my attention.  :)

As a thank you I would like to offer a 10% discount for the month of November.  Coupon code THANKYOU
